Exterior design
A collaboration between architect Jorge Guitarães and landscape architect Teresa Barao, Vila Monte´s exterior design combines traditional elements with cutting-edge lines. The hotels many outdoor terraces highlight Vila Monte´s carefully landscaped nine-hectare grounds-replete with aromatic plants, olive trees, several water reservoirs, and a vegetable garden.
INTERIOR DESIGN
Reinterpreted materials and elements of traditional Algarve architecture, incorporating decorative pieces created by local artisans among other regional flourishes, such as white masonry, mat grasses, and traditional fabrics.
As with much of southern Europe’s Arab-influenced architecture, emphasis is on the play between light and shadow, creating tranquil interior spaces in harmony with the surrounding terrain.
À Terra Restaurant with terrace and garden tables focusing on the gastronomic journey through the neighbouring fishing villages, regional products and rustic flavours.
Philosophy around serving comfort food, made in the wood oven and in the Josper with focus on using local produce to the culinary traditional of the region.
